At 295 Lafayette Street in SoHo, union contractors and carpenters with the New York City District Council of Carpenters are shaping the future home of OpenAI’s first East Coast office inside the historic Puck Building. Renovations are underway to transform multiple floors of this landmark property into modern, collaborative workspaces designed to support innovation and growth. With an interior buildout that includes upgraded assembly areas, meeting spaces, and infrastructure enhancements, the project highlights our union members’ role in adapting an architectural icon while advancing New York City’s tech landscape. It also underscores the precision, safety, and reliability that define every union carpenter–built project.
